Car Care Tips

Scheduled Maintenance

Most automakers set a schedule for recommended service which provides you with the information necessary to make knowledgeable decisions about your car’s maintenance. These guidelines will let you know approximately when recommended services should be preformed and allow you to take the best possible care of your vehicle. At State of the Art, we can perform these maintenances according to your manufacturer’s specifications, usually for much less than the dealer.

Oil Changes

Changing your oil is probably the easiest and least expensive maintenance you can do for your vehicle. Usually, the recommended interval for this service is every 3,000 miles or 3 months, but you can check your owner’s manual for exact manufacturer’s specifications. At State of the Art, we replace your oil and filter, inspect fluid levels and adjust tire pressures with every oil change.

TIRES

A good rule of thumb is to rotate your tires every other oil change or about every 6,000 miles. Your driving safety depends greatly on the condition of your tires. Improper inflation not only leads to diminished tread life, but having too much or too little air in your tires contributes to poor gas mileage and could actually be hazardous. Appropriate maintenance increases the life of your tires.

PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONS

Before you purchase a used car, make sure you know its condition. Awareness of any issues eliminates costly ‘surprises’ and allows you to make the best deal possible. An automobile is a big investment, be sure you do your homework before you buy.
